Christina Swoope
Drum Major -
I am a 2nd year Microbiology major, with pre-med intentions, from Alpharetta, Georgia and this will be my 2nd season with Redcoats . I am thoroughly excited about the opportunity to serve my first year as Drum Major with Katy, Joe , and Jack although I will miss the saxophone section very much :o( In addition to Redcoats, I am also a member of the Student Alumni Council, National Residence Hall Honorary, Student Government Association, and the Franklin Residential Community. I'm looking forward to a great season with Redcoats and can't wait to meet all of our new members!! Go DAWGS!!
Jack Varner
Drum Major -
I am a senior with a dual major in Environmental Health Science and Biological Sciences. My primary career interest is epidemiology. While I am not a music major, I enjoy playing trumpet for the athletic bands, including marching band and basketball band. I am very excited about this season for Redcoats (and the Dawgs!) as it will be my fifth year in the band and third year as drum major. In addition to Redcoats, I am a brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and a student ambassador for the College of Public Health. Go Dawgs!!
Joe Higgins
Drum Major -
Joe was born and raised in Alpharetta, GA where he attended Milton High School. He is currently in his fourth year at UGA as a Music Education major and member of the percussion studio. During his first two years in the REDCOAT MARCHING BAND, Joe was a member of the clarinet section and the Derbies pep band. The 2006 season was his first as a Drum Major of Redcoats, and he is very excited about returning this year to work with Jack, Katy and Christina. Joe enjoys many types/genres/flavas of music and participates in many ensembles on campus (Steel Band rocks!). He loves art and architecture, K-Bob's (Uncle Otto's), coffee, movies, and Georgia Football. He is excited about getting to know the newest Redcoat Band members and experiencing another unforgettable year. Go Dawgs!
Katy Wilson
Drum Major -
I am originally from Lawrenceville, Georgia where I graduated from Brookwood High School. Currently, I am a junior, music education major at UGA. This will be my third season with the REDCOAT BAND! During my freshman and sophomore years I marched in the TRUMPET section. In addition to Redcoats, I participate in the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Derbies Pep Band, and enjoy traveling and hanging out with friends. I am also an active brother of Kappa Kappa Psi. I am thrilled to be a part of the Redcoat Band another year...it's an incredible experience! I am looking forward to a fantastic season! And of course....GO DAWGS!! :-)
Dory Musselwhite
Band Captain -
Dory Musselwhite is the Band Captain of the Redcoat Band for the 2007-2008 school year. She is in her fourth year of school majoring in Music Education, studying flute with Angela Jones-Reus. She is originally from Roswell, GA, but she considers Athens her home. In Redcoats, she has previously served as Rank Leader and Section Leader for the Piccolo section. This year Dory will be playing Baritone in her fourth year of Redcoats. She played piccolo in Volleyball Band and has been a member of Derbies Pep Band for 2 years. She has also played Baritone in the Basketball Band for 2 years. In addition to Redcoats, she is also a member of Steel Drum Ensemble, CMENC, and Sigma Alpha Iota, nternational Music Fraternity for Women, in which she was previously Recording Secretary and Social Chair. In her spare time, Dory also enjoys cooking, playing basketball, and working out at Ramsey.

I'm excited about the opportunity to be a section leader this year, and I hope that Michelle, the rank leaders, and I can make it a good experience for everyone in the section. I also serve the band as a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi. Although I love Athens (and football!), I plan to graduate in Spring 2008 and someday manage an orchestra.

This is my 4th and final year as a member of the Redcoat Band and I am looking forward to what this season will bring! I will be graduating in the Spring (as scary as that sounds right now...) with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Other than Redcoats, some things that I enjoy are: cooking, reading, teaching, scrapbooking, Redcoat Christian Fellowship, the Wesley Foundation, and Sigma Alpha Iota.

I am starting my third year at UGA as a Dietetics/Pre-Pharmacy major with a minor in music from Paulding County. This is also my third year in Redcoats which has been an amazing experience for me since day one. This is my first year as a rank leader so I'm pretty psyched!

This is my third year marching the clarinet in the Redcoat Band. I graduated from Starrs Mill High School in 2005 and am from Peachtree City. I love to laugh and will laugh at just about any joke. I am also the secretary for the fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi.

I recently aged out of Carolina Crown drum and bugle corps, and I am currently teaching and writing for several Georgia high school bands. I am a proud brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Sam Hjort is a sousaphone section leader of the Redcoat Band for the 2007-2008 season. He is entering is fifth year as a Music Education Major, studying tube with Mr. David Zerkel. Hailing from Valdosta GA, Sam is proud to claim Athens as his home. Sam is one of the truck drivers for the Sousaphone section and was previously a rank leader as well. Sam is entering his fourth year of service to the Derbies Pep band as well as being a three year member of the Basketball band. In addition to Redcoats, Sam is a member of the Wind Ensemble and Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble. Sam is a proud member of Alpha Sigma Sigma and the Redcoat Football Team. I was born and raised in Plano, Texas. I am a senior majoring in Social Work at UGA, and I will be working with DFACS all year long in a field placement. I have been in Redcoats every year my college education and I absolutely love it! I play bass drum in the drumline, and I have had the time of my life with these guys! This will also be my second year to drive the drumline truck.

This will be my fourth and final year on the UGA Flagline and I have enjoyed every minute in the Redcoat family! I'm a senior and am majoring in public relations. I am entering my fourth year as part of the Georgette Danceline, and my second year as captain. I traveled with the Redcoats in 2006 to China as part of their performance tour. I am also involved in teaching dance camps and clinics for UGA. I am also a member and captain of the UGA basketball dance team, the Dance Dawgs.

I'm a Senior majoring in History and Anthropology. I have been with the Georgettes for five years now, and have been captain for three, including our trip to China. I was also chosen for the Phyllis Dancz award in 2006.
Amy Demers
Majorette - Captain
My name is Amy Demers and I am one of the majorette captains. I am a junior majoring in Advertising and minoring in comparative literature. I was born in Royston, GA and attended Franklin County High School where I was the feature twirler for four years. I have been on the UGA majorette line for two years and helped win five national team championship titles. I have been twirling for thirteen years. I am a former Miss Majorette of Georgia and state and regional twirling champion.
Meghan Banks
Majorette - Captain
I am from Elberton, Georgia where I was a majorette for two years and the feature twirler for two years at Elbert County Comprehensive High School. I am a former Miss Majorette of Georgia and was a 2006 Top Ten Finalist in the Senior Int. Miss Majorette of America competition. I have been a member of the UGA majorette line for two years and have helped the line win a total of five National Championship titles. There is truly "nothin' finer in the land" and I'm honored to begin my third year as a member in the Redcoat Band!
Amanda Farmer
Feature Twirler -
I'm a junior honors student, and I am majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. This will be my third year with Redcoats, but it will be my first season as the Feature Twirler. I am from Bowdon, GA and attended Bowdon High School where I was the feature twirler for five years. I have been twirling since the age of seven, and over the years I have won numerous state and regional titles. I was also a member of the national champion Georgia-Alabama Angels twirling team, and I am currently the coach of the 3-time Georgia state champion Dixie Twirlers twirling team. The past two years I have been part of the 5-time national champion UGA majorette line.
