			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div align="justify">All music majors and minors and scholarship recipients, graduate teaching assistants, and any other interested undergraduate and graduate students should plan to take the auditions. Please report at the start of the time block to register. All wind auditions take place in Edge Hall unless otherwise noted.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Representatives of the University of Georgia Bands were honored to present the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic Medal of Honor to H. Owen Reed.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div align="justify">Representatives of the University of Georgia Bands were honored to present the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic Medal of Honor to composer and Michigan State University Professor Emeritus H. Owen Reed, who currently resides in Athens. Pictured with Dr. Reed (seated) following the intimate ceremony are (L-R) UGA Graduate Conducting Associates John Lopez and Curran Prendergast, Visiting UGA Associate Director of Bands and Michigan State Director of Bands Emeritus Prof. John Whitwell, UGA Director of Bands Dr. John P. Lynch, and Third-Year Music Education Student and Undergraduate Conducting Apprentice Erin Cundiff. </p>
<p>The Midwest Clinic Medal of Honor was introduced in 1962 as a way to honor conductors, educators, composers, and others whose unique service to music education and continuing influence on the development and improvement of bands and orchestras deserve special recognition. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div align="justify">The directors of the University of Georgia Bands announce a call for recordings for potential guest bands at the 2013 UGA Middle School Band Festival and the 2014 January High School Band Festival. </p>
<p>• MidFest recordings and applications are due by Friday May 31, 2013 at 5:00pm EDT. Application should be made at <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDlOOXlWMVhEMkt6NGVnU0FDUndqZ1E6MA#gid=0">this link</a>. Recordings should be emailed to Brett Bawcum at bbawcum@uga.edu with the subject &#8220;MidFest Guest Band Submission 2013.&#8221;</p>
<p>• JanFest recordings and applications are due by Monday June 17, 2013 at 5:00pm EDT. Families of Redcoat Band members will be able to purchase tickets in a block with other band parents for the following Georgia Football games:</p>

Appalachian State &#8211; November 9, 2013<br />
Kentucky &#8211; November 23, 2013</p>
<p>All kick-off times are TBA. An email will be sent to 2013 Redcoats regarding ticket request procedures and other details after the season roster is set in early June.</p></div>
