Festivals and Camps
The University of Georgia Bands hosts two band festivals in December and January each year.
The Midfest and Janfest festivals give middle and high school students from beyond the borders of Georgia the opportunity to audition, play
in Honor and Clinic Bands, attend Masterclsses and hear Guest Performing Bands. Participation in these bands is based off of recommendation
of students band directors. Visit Janfest or Midfest for more information.
During the summer the Hugh Hodgson School of Music host a pair of summer camps. The
Summer Music Camp is a six day
musical experience where students rehearse, have private lessons, attend musicianship class, perform and have daily master classes with the
internationally renowned University of Georgia School of Music Faculty. The
Summer Marching Band Camp is an intensive six day camp where
students an choose to develop techniques from many marching
areas including Drum Major, Marching Percussion, Twirlers, Dancers, Color Guard and Band Leadership. The camp is staffed with award-winning
specialists in each area including drum corps instructors and members and instructional staff from the University of Georgia Redcoat Band.
